Other Stories of Addiction/Recovery

Removed from Life Support

I just found out about Drum Set Confessional on Wednesday 9/6 at the Charlotte show, and the message hit me, hard. Just a few weeks ago, my husband, whom I had been separated from but had not yet divorced, overdosed on Fentanyl. He had reached out to me on a Friday, after not having heard from him for a while. Then on Monday I got the call from his roommate that he was in a coma. Because I was still his legal wife, all decisions and updates of his condition fell to me. It also fell to me, ultimately, to make the decision to remove him from life support. He passed away on August 14th, a day after what would have been our ten-year anniversary. He was only 30 years old. I myself am 18 years clean from my own addiction and have worked as a counselor in a drug rehab. I’ve seen so many cases of the devastation cause by addiction. Thank you, Josh, for all you do.

  1. Thank you for sharing your story, and I am so incredibly sorry to hear about your husband. I hope you are receiving the support that you need right now, and know that there are people who love you that you can reach out to. 18 years into recovery is amazing, giving back to the community as a counselor is amazing, you are amazing.
